Apparently! I say this because it was never explained to me as a Trustee in person or in writing as to why the 2 Ngati Mutunga o Wharekauri Iwi Trust staff members resigned!
Except that it was confidential! Why?
I asked the so called interim Manager for copies of these resignations and was told no, as these were “highly confidential”. Kind of smacks of “conflict of interest” coming from one of the persons who potentially (well he’s still there isn’t he?) benefits from these “highly confidential” resignations don’t you think?
FATMAN & ROBBER
What I do know, is that there were some HR issues with the staff, that I was to be involved with, in finding the best way to resolve them. This was a request from a staff member.
Next thing I know - The staff had “resigned”. I was not privy to this process and/or having access to resignation letters which concerns me as a then liable Trustee!
I was not in any way present at any convened meeting for the expressed purpose mentioned above nor have I been given any information confidential or otherwise in regards to this matter.
While we’re on the subject; the reason I resigned as a trustee was because the chairperson accused me of threatening to kill her. I considered this (and I’m sure you would as well) a very serious accusation and therefore raised it at the Trustees meeting in regards to conduct of trustees and requested that it be dealt with as a board and that the police need to be brought in to investigate the truthfulness of the accusation.
I felt that the response from the board (none) was very poor considering the seriousness and credibility as a board in their ability to look after it’s own affairs - let alone Iwi affairs!
I will endeavour to clear my name and am currently seeking legal advice. Sure this is a personal issue, but I did not want to bring any disrepute upon the board and therefore the Iwi and so resigned and believe that the chairperson should also resign until this matter is dealt with!
