Mirimata Tuuta was born on the Chatham Islands (Wharekauri) 1900.
Mirimata Tuuta according to Aunty Min, died of a broken Heart at the tender age of 21years when she fell in love with a man that could not marry her because she was Maori. Mirimata is buried on the Banks Peninsula at a place called Port levy. Whanau have not been able to locate her precise burial place because of a lack of records.
